Hi friends! Almost everything is ready for to finalize the move to my new account, @fabio@manganiello.online. I pledged to take a longer break from social media after the recent incidents with the official instance, but I can't afford to take a long detox while there are still people in #Gaza who are joining the main instance, tagging me in desperate requests for help, and I can't even respond to them because of the limitations on my account on the main instance. Those who take too long to understand the scale of crimes against humanity, who have been for too long more sensitive to the sense of comfort of the oppressors than the rights of the victims, should be called accountable by history. But they rarely are. Eventually everyone will always have been against this, eventually trials will be held and everyone will have always criticized the criminals. But we aren't there yet. And those who call the right things with the right name, and propose a deeper analysis of the roots of evil when sensitivities haven't adjusted yet, are always those who pay the highest price. I am planning to shut down this account and abandon social media for a while. I have canceled myself to try to help as many as possible lately, and supported everyone against slanderous accusations directed at them. That only ended up with my account being limited on mastodon.social with no notice and no explanation, while genocide denialist trolls and nasty people who tried to halt fundraising for Gaza are still allowed to act under a blanket of absolute impunity. I can't even communicate effectively with new accounts in need from Gaza if my profile is hidden on the main instance. And what baffles me is the lack of support I've received myself when it was my account to be targeted. I'll keep cheering for @npub1p095...m5vl and @npub1nv8q...za59 from the sidelines, they're doing an amazing job, and I'll keep supporting accounts from Gaza, because it's the right thing to do. Just not here, much more on the sidelines, and away from the spotlights. Oracle employees who criticize #Israel may not be referred to mental services. The time has come for us IT professionals to be more morally conscious in the choice of our employer. Companies can't become isolated exclaves within democratic countries where the rules of free speech don't apply and where employees can be harassed for their opinions. If they do, then it's up to those who work for them to walk out - and to those contacted by those recruiters to politely reply with a "no, thanks", with the motivation clearly attached. You don't want to work for a jerk. And you also want them to clearly know that they're jerks, and that's why you don't want to work for them.
