Step by step holiday guide for when you’re on a flight and you see someone getting a wheelchair assist who then gets up and “miraculously” walks away: 1. Mind your fucking business. 90% of wheelchair users are ambulatory at least some of the time. Save your energy for other important airport stuff, like complaining about how “this belt never used to trigger the metal detector” and standing in everybody’s fucking way when they’re boarding and you’re in group Q.

I gotta say, my instinct as a PDF subject-matter expert-ish for half of my career was that these clowns would fuck up the redaction, despite years of being shown how to do it properly. And lo and behold, they did, a lot. If you know about highlighting blacked-out sections to find text underneath, you’ll probably find a lot. A forensic analyst with knowledge of PDF internals can likely find even more if you give them some high-value documents and a little time. View quoted note →

Have now watched the 60 MInutes CECOT piece (thanks, Streisand effect!) It adds a little, not a lot, of new information to what we already knew (to wit: the group Noem was posing in front of were not the Venezuelans she sent there, but domestic Salvadoran gang members who'd probably been there a long time). Mostly it confirms what we already knew: CECOT is super bad. But just so weird that this is the hill Bari Weiss wants to die on. Unless she just wants to prove she won't.
