The problem we‘re facing is that as an app builder I could run my own PDS (so that users don’t have to create a Bluesky account - maybe never having heard of Bluesky), I could even moderate my own lexicon. But what happens when users start using apps with lexicons unknown to me? RE:

Now that we have the first ATProto-native file uploading tools that enable users to upload any type of file to a PDS, I believe it’s high time we discuss the responsibilities and risks associated with hosting a PDS for others.

Taking this here since Discord seems a little stale and it may be of interest to the entire #atproto community. For our efforts working on the mobile PDS we were looking into having more than one signing method/key in did:plc.

Reuters reports on our Eurosky initiative whose goal it is to establish a full, legally compliant #ATProto stack in Europe. This is actually a pretty huge opportunity for Europe to build its own Commons Social Media infrastructure with #AtProto The components are almost all there. Non-MAGA Insta, TikTok, Facebook, etc. without having to start from scratch and with 0 users - here we go. RE:

It would be super important to get a European relay instance up and running. But we need clarity when it comes to European legal questions and the DSA. Would the relay be considered caching or hosting infrastructure. The size of the replay window will probably play into this. RE:
