I think nostr could actually grab some users from the current #Meshtastic interest, especially with the projects built with Meshtastic+nostr. I've said it before but I think that kind of tinkerer mindset would understand nostr as it is now, rough around the edges and a potential sandbox.
There was a brief time when we had a spoke of reddit people come over after some issue over there, I used that back then, redditfugees. I've never used x and I ditched fb years ago and was looking for something better. Ended up on MeWe and then Flote, but they rugged us all. Nostr is the real deal, not perfect but so much better.
yeah i did a brief stint on mewe, and gab... also should mention i was chased out of steemit by the famous berniesanders gigatroll it's true though... this is our last stand as digital natives even if 90% of the clietns and relays turn against us we still will have 10% to support our continuing social existence
On the Fediverse we see major waves of users joining anytime there is a crackdown of authoritarian censorship somewhere in the world. In the past few years we've gotten waves from India, Brazil, and China from groups of people looking to escape their regime's control of media and speech. Nostr has a lot of opportunity there if we can be accessible to those communities when lightning (ha) strikes.
