most people do not actually want free speech
most want the opinions they agree with to always be the loudest
few will actually push tech forward that enables freedom for those that they disagree strongly

There's no fundamental difference in the perception of people when it comes to basic human rights. It's the state indoctrination that later manifests in the perceived polarities of views.
