Whenever we go to the local Italian restaurant, the waitress asks if we want dessert or coffee afterward.
I know it's a common thing, but for the life of me I don't know why anyone would want coffee after a big meal at night.

First (on the business side) itβs to try and get your check average up. Second if you donβt drink alcohol itβs nice to have something other than a sugary drink or water.

An espresso or black coffee is fine after a big evening meal. A large cafe latte is not.

But it's super common here to always drink an espresso after each big meal.
The older you get the more coffee wakes you up in the morning and puts you to sleep at night I like to think of it as my in and off button

Reminds me of my friend Dim @npub1vr2n...dzvx he lives his coffee after a god carnivore meal. And honestly it's not a bad combo... But some people don't seem to be affected by it or are just night owl folks.
