My wife got pulled over by the cops today
Car was unregistered
My licence had been cancelled
They refused to let her drive anywhere until outstanding fines had been paid
I knew nothing about them
They’d been contacting an old address
900$ of speeding fines from the last 6/12 months

After 40 mins of bouncing around service NSW on the phone, I was able to find out why my car was de-registered, and why my licence was cancelled, and ultimately what I had to pay to make the problem go away

I don’t even know the details of each breach as they couldn’t tell me
Plus I’ve picked up 5 demerit points, which is yet another “get some more of these and you’re banned”
Obviously the state is better informed to judge the speed with which a father should drive his family around on a road…

Yeah it was rather intense to say the least
To be fair to the police officer, he was polite, and not aggressive
But it’s still not very nice being accosted by law enforcement
