Until now, if you lost or broke your phone, your Signal message history was gone, a real challenge for everyone whose most important conversations happen in Signal. So, with careful design & development, we’re rolling out opt-in secure backups. Secure backups will let you save an archive of your Signal messages remotely in privacy-preserving form, refreshed daily. Now available in the latest Android beta release, rolling out to iOS & Desktop soon

Hey @npub1qmla...mdus big fan of these cloud backups! I know y'all need the money, I'd just love a free Nextcloud backup integration option. Maybe a Signal App for a Nextcloud server and then you can enter the URL into your phone, login like via any third party request such as DAVx5, and then E2EE backups can exist there without any user having to pay? Only affects a small userbase, sure (those with a Nextcloud instance)! But specifically Signal's userbase would use this and you need this option in order to allow people from regimes which ban secure messaging to have it too. Same with the proxies people ran for Iran etc., such an option is nice to have! Thanks for the update, though! :signal: :ablobcatheartsqueeze:
