Question mainly for then Catholics in the group, but I welcome all opinions. What do you consider proper attire for church? I’ll hold off on offering my thoughts, I want to hear others’ first.

@npub1yvw6...0jwn polo or button down and jeans
@npub1yvw6...0jwn You should have a tucked in shirt. I think that's the lowest common denominator. Jeans are also bad.
That's the 2025 Catholic church answer I think.
Of course it would be better if people dressed better that what I wrote, but those might be the best expectations today.
Also I stopped going to Catholic church after life so far. I read the bible now.
@npub1yvw6...0jwn I think it sorta depends on the church one attends. Some have more of a dress code -- Men wear men's attire, women should wear dresses and head coverings.
Some pretty much anything goes.
I think it would be good if chest, waist and hips to at least mid thigh should be covered.
Shoes optional, but a wise choice.
When I attend a gathering of Christians I (female) wear a dress, socks, shoes and a hat, but that's my daily wear also.

@npub1yvw6...0jwn business casual. So nice pants or jeans and a polo or button down shirt. Sometimes a service is offered very early come as you are. Later service is more traditional. I expect with recent happenings dress code has become very lax. I would think parishioners of the 50’s would be horrified by what we think is Sunday best.
@npub1yvw6...0jwn office casual
@npub1yvw6...0jwn so business casual seems to be the thing but I think a linen tunic and sandals should be acceptable.
@npub1yvw6...0jwn pleated camel colored slacks, plaid shirt, brown loafers.
@npub1yvw6...0jwn the woman doing the reading today had a dress on with short sleeves and a spider web tattoo on her bicep and a bullseye on the other arm. Classy catholic.

When I was a kid everyone always dressed up as nice as they could. I remember hating just having casual dress pants and a collared shirt.
This wasn’t a Catholic Church I went to. I seem to have missed the part in the Bible where it says you NEED to wear fancy clothes to hear the Lord’s message.

As a Buddhist, we show respect to the Buddha. Anything is fine, as long as it is respectful.
Having said that, most temples frown upon shorts, short skirts and showing shoulder or too much boob.
Oh, and no shoes goes without saying.
Ok, my thoughts. When I was younger, I was taught to treat church as if you were going to dinner at grandma’s house, which meant dressing up. But as I got older I have drifted to more of the business casual attire. I wear jeans, but they aren’t faded/worn, and a nice polo or button down shirt, like what I would wear to work.
So that said, I have come to believe God doesn’t much care what you wear, as long as you’re showing up to mass…
@npub1yvw6...0jwn When i was a kid it was dress shirt, dress shoes, dress slacks, and tie.
The absolute minimum was the same, but without the tie.
@npub1yvw6...0jwn
Women = Dresses (that do not show cleavage, are not sleaveless, and come down to at least the knee).
Men = Suit with tie or at least sports coat with tie.
God actually does care what you wear to Mass, because what we wear reflects the effort we make and the respect we have for who we are going to see. If you were going to meet the President and you dressed in a suit but you go to meet God and are dressed in a t-shirt, something's not prioritized correctly.
@npub1yvw6...0jwn slacks, leather soled shoes, and a dress shirt. A tie would be perfect.
I understand standards are low. Blue jeans and a collared shirt is the current high end.
