The dog-human bond is stronger than many people realize.
Nah this behavior is just a sad pathetic simulacrum of having a real marriage and a real child.
We live in a society where half of all marriages end in divorce now. I know someone who shares custody of both a dog and a kid with two different exes.
Maybe for people that don't have anything more meaningful in life than their dog... That's sad.
Itβs actually not true that half of all marriages end in divorce. That stat is skewed by people who get married and divorced multiple times. Itβs probably about 30%.

a real dog gives much more than the appearance of loyalty. This guy we lost to cancer recently would have undoubtedly died to defend my kids, wife or me. You've obviously never had a proper dog. When he found mice under the snow he would bring them to us. I feel bad for you that you've never had a real bond with a real dog.
Not that he is more important than my kids or wife in anyway but I would rather have him than 95% of the humans I've met. 100% unconditional loyalty...

The best is when you hear two grown adults that have no kids complain about how hard life is or how hard it is to pay bills, have savings etc. Itβs like, we got 3 kids over here you have no idea what struggle is, not even close.
