I'd go with something more specific that gets you out of your comfort zone a bit. Like reading a classic in a genre you usually don't touch, picking up a recent award-winning book, trying an audiobook, or even putting aside a book you're not enjoying.
Putting aside a book Iβm not enjoying is definitely out of my comfort zone. Iβll force myself to stick with it. Stuck with a 500ish page novel once thinking it would get better, it didnβt. I like the idea of reading a book in a genre you donβt normally read.
I know exactly how you feelβit's something novel (pun intended) for me as well, but I do dread reading a book I don't enjoy, so it takes me longer to finish and ends up costing me much more in opportunity to read something better and more enjoyable. So I decided to really start doing it this year.
Itβs a good idea to just put down books youβre not enjoying. There are more books Iβd like to read than time available.
Joy-per-book read, thats the metric IMO
Minimum daily page count for me, consistency defeats motivation! β‘οΈπ€π
It'd be minimum hours per day, as I find myself listening to audiobooks more than anything.
I set aside all the books I wanted to eventually read. Added up all the pages and divided to figure out how many pages a day I have to read to finish by Dec 31,2025
