Dear Nostr, Your frustration with Lightning Network is not because "LN doesn't work" but because you didn't studied enough how to use it properly. I've seen so many users that don't even know the differences between private and public channels or don't even know what is LN liquidity. But they all complain that "LN doesn't work... etc" Start learning today! image

Fools they are when they believe LN is a solution for the 99%, when not even 1% of the generously counted 0.001% here on Nostr can handle it in a proper self-costidual way.

The frustration is real because LN was always designed as a bank-to-bank network. And yes IDGAF as what compromised Core propagndists sold it to the community in 2016. In the bankers vision of Bitcoin that started in 2014 you are not meant to have access to L1 or L2.
Well, for non-custodial LN it is road full of pain. Once you went through you node’s setup, opened a channel, swapped or maybe bought some incoming liquidity then the probl, elms accur. Which normal user would like to think about force-closed channels, randomly disconnecting peers, payments that cannot be sent even though the liquidity and size of the channels is right? Just to name some things, not all. This is discouraging for many. It is like asking “why don’t you fix your car yourself”? I appreciate LN. I use it in my self-sovereign way. I want and like to learn but understand that this UX is not for regular guy who is used to having his credit card just working. This is improving, there are also other options like maybe Ark (which I haven’t tested yet) but current state just does not work for most of the people.
It works but is not great UX. Same reasons why PGP never caught on but things like Signal did. Autists like us might be interested in learning all this, and willing to put up with the friction, but most people are not (who otherwise might have been interested but were scared off by bad UX). You have to abstract all that complexity away or your pool of users is going to be very small and using custodians which is exactly what we see with LN.
