A big conservative political podcast (seven figure YouTube subscribers) asked me to come on and talk about bitcoin (sat next to them on the plane out of the May conference in Vegas, which sparked their request).
Last week when I went on the show, they decided to emphasize a talking point of why tariffs are great and will usher in a golden age, and some questions about bitcoin.
When asked about tariffs, I generally disagreed that they would be bullish or usher in a new golden age, mentioned that the past three months of data doesnβt show a decline in import prices which means it has been a tax on Americans, and eventually we moved to discussing bitcoin.
They ended up not airing the talk, and instead ran the clip with someone else who agreed on the tariff points. Waste of time, basically.
Itβs a reminder that a big percentage of what you see in heavily politicized media is about narrative framing and talking points rather than genuine attempts to discuss or explore. It reminded me why I normally decline to go on political shows; I had only agreed to this one because the catalyst was in person and so the agreeable side of me was like βsure, why notβ.
Well, thatβs why not.

Completely agree! Remember flying down to do a Lex Fridman podcast about why #bitcoin just as Elon was changing his tune about it. Never aired because it didnβt fit the narrative.
@LexFridman release the tape!
Oh wait, he's not a nostrich
Something fishy is going on with lex. He's deleted podcasts as well. I think he deleted podcasts with shivon zillas maybe cause he has too big a crush on her. Also found out yesterday he deleted podcasts #100 which was with his dad. He wants to cover up that he actually didn't go to MIT. So like Rogan and Elon he probably stopped talking about Bitcoin and having btcers on air. But his podcast with Michael saylor is part of what orange pilled me. Amongst some other stuff going on at the time.
Wait⦠there is an unaired Lex Fridman episode with you??? I would actually watch that for once!
Had reservations prior but completely tuned him out after.
When someone shows you who they are - trust them.
Lex friedman is literally a spy/agent of CIA coubterintelligence unit guys, I dont know how much more obvious this can be
For what itβs worth, Iβve always thought his show was shit and never made it through more than 5 minutes of any episode Iβve startedβ¦
I always felt he was grotesquely fake and it was supremely off-putting for me.
Dude just has bad vibes.
did you try saying the word "love" repeatedly?
that could work next time..
Makes senses.
π time youβll never get back π€
His episodes with the primeagen and dhh are really good actually
Wow! Unbelievable! Iβve been suspicious of Lex Fridman for many years. This confirms it.
No way.
Thatβs wild
Social influencers have a social influence hierarchical structure
Damn I always thought he was so genuine
Wow. His supporters just lost out on valuable information from one of the best.
Same. Not sure where all this hate is coming from.
So what you're both saying is that when you are given a platform, it's because it fits a particular narrative.
Lex the guy that never went to MIT that claims heβs a student and professor there. That Lex?
Ultra sound observation.
I sometimes would listen, but for the guests he brings on. He's amazingly annoying and I hate that he feels the need to talk so much! A good podcaster does the questions right, shuts up and listens
Occasionally he has great episodes. Itβs mostly the guests, though.
I used to watch many of his earlier episodes and learned and enjoyed a lot. But a few years ago this changed.
I still remember the episodes with Robert Breedlove and Michael Saylor which I find very good.
But this information from you now confirms, that my changed opinion is justified.
Thank you. ππ»
Lex puts me to sleep anyway
Lex Friedman is a showman only and not interested in advancing society. He gets no views from me
I stopped taking him serious when he started blocking people who discussed his height.
Wow, I wouldn't have thought he'd waste someone's time like that. But he did.
Jeff Booth - Bad
Benjamin Netanyahu - Good
In simple terms. Fuck these guys. Tick Tock next block.
Better to know than not to know where people are coming from.
what????
:O
Sad to hear there is a Jeff Booth podcast we'll never see.
Thank you both for the truth. I more or less assumed as much but clearly I was too generous, naive, and/or blind by bias.
π
Wow. TIL.
Lex is an asset, he blocked every single person on x that raised the question, "was he even at MIT?"
Wait, really?? Glad I never paid any attention to his persona. Why waste your guest's time if you never air?
Thatβs good to know. Can you point to evidence?
Thatβs terribly sad to hear. Iβve been a big fan of his stuff.
How Lex got so big is a "mystery". He's the worst interviewer ever with the personality of a rake.
Not surprise. The way he covered the Russian war in Ukraine is a shame
Personal contacts expressing their interpretations, for what thats worth. Its very obvious as well if you were paying attention to his early years before a "deal" was established
Such a shame the interview wasn't released, but something always felt off and after seeing this a few days ago now I'm not surprised
Lex can make any guest or subject boring.
Can you explain what is obvious about it? I wasnβt paying attention to his early years.
An asset for who though?
This is where @TheRupertDamnit is supposed to say βyour momsβ
That tracks
But I ate it instead?
Have yall ever considered bringing your own recording devices, so that you can publish entire unedited videos?
π
Typical tribe narrative control
Maybe your interview was just dull. Did you at least consider that possibility?
Thank Rogan for that gem
Indeed.
Why is he so big the!?
If you can put your audience to sleep, the metrics look like they finish the whole episode?

What kind of dumb fuck doesn't air a show with Lyn Alden? Even if you disagree with her...

Would be hilarious if you recorded it and aired it yourself.

Thanks for your story, I think it's an extremely important issue.
I think not many people realise that many podcasts that they see as alternative media are now basically mainstream media. They are captured and purely used for propaganda.
I think it's mostly the bigger political right pods and the big tech ones. Keywords like 'golden age', 'they run the government as a business' and 'Thiel and Musk are libertarians' are massive red flags.
Don't consider every #podcast 'alternative media' people, many are just mainstream media now.
#freedom
It was Pomp's podcast wasn't it?
Iβm old enough to remember saying these types of formats were going to usurp the old broadcast system but it just repackaged it.
Your transparency is appreciated. π«‘
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and especially your conclusions with us. Your razor-sharp observations help us ordinary people to better understand what is going on.
Itβs all a big show and (sometimes) youβre not on it
Somewhere between expected outcome and scary π§
Very disappointing and waste of your time
Sounds like a dick.
The establishment is really something else.

Do you get any editing at all or is it completely βmeh weβll write our own context narrativeβ??
They are all self serving scum.
We need the bootleg version of it! Did you record the conversation yourself?
Live on air or no dice
Call them out. Name names.
"it has been a tax on Americans" - who would have thought eh? For a country who's importing a vast amount of resources this shouldn't come at a surprise. I actually wrote a very long note on this topic a couple of months ago. But of course, I didn't know what I was talking about...
And Iβm on board with tariffs (though I have a somewhat moderate position between @Lyn Alden here and more hardcore conservatives on this issue), but it does go to show how canned much of this discussion is.

THE WEST IS ENDING BUT THE INTERNET IS JUST BEGINNING
When narratives become more important than truth..
When self-righteous men rather entertain their audience than speak out against what's wrong..
Then you'll know we've already crossed the point of no return.
It has to become worse before it's getting any better.

Thank you for sharing this @Lyn Alden, much appreciated. Truth is everything that matters.
There are some good podcasts out there, but they mostly seem to ignore bitcoin and just shrug at tariffs (not good or bad). If you have a connection who could get you in, I'd love to hear you on the Ruthless podcast or something in the National Review universe.
Good lesson! Or consider charging for your time when it is a political so at least you can buy more bitcoin with it!
Ahh that sucks, and lame of them.
Fuckers
Not a shock
It's possible that free trade has led to extracted bifurcation of income and a terrible gini coefficient. Maybe
Put the broken money is probably the bigger culprit in my opinion
You need to record them yourself, and get them to sign an agreement before you go on the show that you can release it yourself if they decide not to air it
A little disagreement shouldn't be cause to punt an episode. That shows thin skin and thin standards.

Should name names on all verifiable facts. A noterized affidavit would suffice.
Youβre one of the smartest people in Econ.
I can think of a couple reasons why you'd choose not to share the name of the podcast, but I think it would be good for us to know.
Would you consider telling nostr who it was?
Indeed just because it's labelled "alternative media" doesn't mean it's not curated media, everyones got an agenda and in the end a slave to what gets clicks
