I’m wearing a nice jacket while walking near a river and I see a child drowning. If I go into the river to save him, the jacket will be ruined. If I leave and sell the jacket instead, I can send that money to Africa and save 10 children. Effective altruism not only tells us that the latter is acceptable, but preferable as well. Helping your neighbor is localism. Don’t get psyoped by globalist propaganda and β€œburn your keys” like Saylor. Help your kids, but raise them to treat that wealth with respect and duty.
