#Nostr is not a showcase for influencers.
It is a refuge for those who choose freedom over visibility.
No emails, no advertising.
Just keys, voice, and will.
Its strength is not measured in numbers, but in sovereignty: protocols that endure, adoption that comes from the bottom up, no masters.
If you want the mainstream, go elsewhere.
If you want freedom, welcome home. π«π¨

Nostr is the place for influencing freedom.
Apologies for being difficult here, but this isnβt exactly true, is it? I mean, this post of yours made it to the trending topics and receive a gazillion sats because it was noticed by influencers, while plenty of similar posts will be shown to absolutely nobody simply because they didnβt come from a well-connected account.
There are also plenty of ads all over Nostr (e.g. zapping bots), including some that are clearly preying on people, but we arenβt allowed to talk about them because Nostr loves its Lightning vendors. Plus saying anything negative about Nostr means you are excommunicated from the Purple Ostrich Church.
Donβt get me wrong, I love Nostr and already do more than my fair share of volunteer work to lift it up. But it hasnβt really fixed all of the problems mentioned above. In fact, itβs invented a few new ones of its own.
Smart people are working hard to fix all of this, of course... And thatβs what I love about it. Nostr is deeply flawed, but enough people love it to keep trying to improve it.
I completely understand what youβre saying, and youβre not being βdifficultβ at all β youβre just voicing a very valid frustration.
Youβre right: there are unfair dynamics and new problems we canβt ignore, even in something we care about.
At the same time, itβs great to see that, despite its flaws, there are smart and passionate people still working hard to make things better.
Your honesty and contribution really matter. ππ¨
Exactly π #nostr isnβt about chasing likes or building followers. Itβs about choosing freedom, no middlemen, no permissions, no masters. Just pure connection, voice, and sovereignty. The mainstream runs on control. Nostr runs on freedom. Welcome home :)
There is definitely hope that Nostr will be a showcase for ideas rather than influencers. The value for value nature, and the lack of evil centrally controlled algorithms, particularly supports this.
However, as it grows, it will NOT overcome human nature. Attention will continue to be a currency. And once all the eyeballs arrive - mass marketing and advertising will follow.
I remain pragmatic but hopeful.
Nostr also needs much better search and discovery tools, because at the moment, the big accounts and the "influencers" dominate a huge percentage of the attention (and zaps).
Completely agree.
