thereβs plenty of objective evidence that china is an authoritarian surveillance state, and the effects of that on human experience can be deduced. But culturally it seems that most chinese donβt have a problem living like this

almost a 10x reduction in size with NO drop in quality.
you could even do HEVC (but then it wouldn't work on web) for a further reduction to 4.1MB
