This probably relates to the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Financial Promotion) (Amendment) Order 2023. It has to be โ€œin the course of businessโ€, basically if you want to profit, you must comply. Both bitkey and ledger are blocking their own blog sites to UK users in order to remain compliant - probably whilst they attempt to register with the FCA - at which point these pages will return. Iโ€™m not defending this and the UK state is increasingly authoritarian but itโ€™s probably better to avoid hyperbole and be accurate. For the time being at least, weโ€™re still free to talk, teach and publish about Bitcoin. I still remember a lot of NGU bitcoiners crying for โ€œbetter complianceโ€ and โ€œclear regulationโ€. Well in the UK, itโ€™s here now. Cheers for that.
