This is the damn problem I'm dealing with right now — all the stores are only accepting cash, and no one knows about this possibility. I have no food stocked and no "colorful paper" backed by the honesty of politicians.

As far as I know, if you’re an off-line receiver, you can’t check if the ecash have been redeemed, so it requires a certain level of trust.
The token can be locked to a pubkey which makes sure only the receiver can spend it.
And what app is using this level of security built-in for offline payment ?
Sounds cool, but who’s responsible for locking the ecash? If it’s the mint, then the payee needs to know ahead of time that they’ll need the tokens offline and who they’re going to pay.
@calle for offline receive, is it possible for the receiver to accept a nut that they know for a fact was not already spent by the sender?
Let’s say I know I’m going to a conference with shit WiFi, could the receiver register with a mint ahead of time so that before I go I can have that mint “gift wrap” ecash for that vender using the receivers key to encrypt it, but if i choose not to spend it, I can still redeem it myself?

Si crees que puedas estar X días sin electricidad o sin internet, tienes minteados los tokens que vayas a utilizar en ese tiempo
Esos tokens los puedes canjear sin internet, y los reclama el receptor cuando tenga internet de nuevo
This works fantastically, and I have been trying it out a lot between cashu.me and wallet.nutstash.app , but there is just one thing that I can't get right... (not sure yet if its just me or it its a technical hurdle)
I can't lock #ecash to a recipient if I am offline. If I could do this, I could pay someone while one or both of us are offline, and neither has to trust each other.
This would be just the thing we need in Africa. a transaction is as settled as cash itself.
(Besides trusting the mint, but hey I guess we trust the government with cash so 🤷♂️ )
