@npub1arcw...ggtw allows creators to use their reach and numbers to reward their followers in a value for value economic model.
For this exmaple, let's use me. π
Let's say that I wanted to reward the people that followed me and also shared a note of mine. I would add the $boost tag to my note. Prism picks it up, and tracks who shared the note. Now let's say that my original note was Zapped 100,000 sats. I could then in turn Zap the Prism created note all 100,000 sats, to reward users for boosting my note. That's wild.
This opens up a completely new advertising model for Zaps. The implications and use cases here are going to get really interesting.
Now back to my example. Let's say a new company with very few followers asks me talk about a product or announcement of theirs, because I have a larger reach. Maybe they do some Zapvertising? Or maybe @OpenSecret and I work out a deal where they Zap me 50K sats to post their announcement and talk about their announcement and I send 25K sats to everyone that boosts my announcement note.
This allows those on Nostr without large audiences to participate in essentially what is ad revenue sharing via Zapvertising. π€―
On Twitter, if you follow some influencer and share their Tweets, you don't get paid for it, but they do! That model is broken, because it takes advantage of people's followers and the person at the top reaps all of the benefits. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth too. π‘
Boosts in this capacity are really cool as they allow for all to participate since we're all building Nostr together. It's more democratic and inclusive. I really like it. π₯

Okay! This is INSANE & MAGICAL all at the same time π€―

I guess the question remains: will influencers use this to give back to their followers?
As they become aware of it, I don't see why not. Wasn't that one of the main arguments for NFTs that had everyone thinking it was a good idea before it all went left? The ability to give back to the followers/fans/supporters? π€©
This is WAAAAAY better & just takes us sharing the exact note you gave

Well, NFT scams was them being greedy. I guess they could say they're going to boost and never do it.
The notes will never forget though. Their lies would live on in some relays π
How do I start?
Create a note with dollar sign-boost.
Cette note en rΓ©ponse Γ Ben devrait Γͺtre rajoutΓ©e Γ votre notre note et ce serait plus simple et en + en gain....
Thanks for explaining it to #plebs. @Derek Ross
You are welcome π«π€π»π
What is this wizardry π€¨
So everyone who boosts that notewould receive part of the zaps your note received?
If I chose to zap the newly created prism note or anyone that zaps that created prism note, yes. It's not automatic.
Thanks!
So my feed would be absolutely slaughtered by people boosting a note? Like today?
How do you protect from an army of bots reposting your $boost notes?
Good question.
There should be some marginal attribution of each of the zaps your received.
Let's say if Jack boosts you a lot more marginal impressions and zaps, he should get a zap share somewhat proportionally amounting to it.
A new bot account with no follows shouldn't get any amount.
==
What do you guys think about the game theory of this for big accounts?
- Will they have too strong of an incentive to just keep boosting other notes?
- Would it be wrong to do so?
- -> I'm thinking it could be a great force for decentralization; similar to the Joe Rogan podcast giving spotlight to new interesting people.
Hmm. The ripple effect. I medium like it, maybe that's something that Prism could build in. However, I don't fully like it because it then takes away from others who share the note too. It's not as inclusive then, catering to larger followings. I'd probably be okay with a configuration that allows you to choose to enable ripples or not. For now, I think it's fine this way.
Game it, fix it, repeat.

Thank you for explaining this in terms I could understand
You're welcome. I hope I interrupted this correctly.
A bot for Damus's users to avoid Apple's restrictions is already great.
If there's a @jb55 there's a way π€£
One more word for my mutelist. Too bad not all clients know how to mute words from boosts.
Good point. Don't like boosts, just mute them and don't share them.

Awesome
Hmm Iβm excited to see how much this will be used!
Thanks for the explanation!
Prism should copy/paste it on their website :)
π€£ I should go read their website

That is pretty wild. I like the splits.
Cheers to the hustlers who are actively breaking the fiat system, block by block.
can it be hacked? bots search for $bo_st and so first 10 are all bots?
Absolutely. They'll need to implement a WoT or some sort of criteria of profile metrics. Otherwise bots will snag these sats faster than nutgrabber.
But how do people monitor gauge the effectiveness of the advertising?
It's a good question. I think we'll see this evolving as time moves forward.
Reach is king in advertising. Measuring outcomes is mostly surveillance, and gameable.
Zap splits are against app store guidelines

Apple wasn't going to allow third-party app stores ???
La faute à ceux qui protègent leur pouvoir dans le Monde de la Tech... On a beau s'énerver contre les GAMAM y compris Blackrock leurs pouvoirs leur ont donnés bien avant et ce fut pire entre les mandats de Bush et Trump... This is a terrible idea & will create more spam & in result because I keep seeing the same noteore then twice I like many others would end up blocking every single person sharing the note.
Spam is already an issue that the filter to me personally has no use. I still see the same jap or chinese doosoo chatgpt yadayada with the filter on. I can see spam makers using your idea to zap their own spam boosted & share the zaps mostly to themselves which would encourage more ppl to do it. They will think hey zaps for me if I share & boost then it will be a clusterfuck of boosted spam non-stop all day every relay. Then i'll have to quit nostr.
Nostr would become a worse adridden network which would make twitter look nicer. I look to escape the advertisements not change social networks to leave one that bombards you with ads to join another social network that will bombard you with different ads.
The marketing world is changing π
Is it $prism or $pyramid tho...π€

It incentivises noise... right? It also undermines or trades the trust I have placed in the people I follow as they sell off my attention for their personal gain... It doesn't seem like value 4 value to me. It seems like the opposite. Value for amplifying noise. Maybe I've completely misunderstood.
This is what I'm afraid of as well. I don't want Nostr to be a Twittery experience like that. But this could play out pretty well too, hard to predict how people will use new features.
This is so rad. So innovative. Super fun!
Awesome!
Yessir.
Who's pen testing this ? What's the potential vulnerabilities? Like all we have to do is tag this hashtag and then a bot tracks the engagement?

This is also great for music collaborators, on stemstr, for eg. All the artists who work on a track can enjoy the sats that are generated. Pretty awesome!
Thanks for the explanation. It sounds really promising!
Would this be a development that could potentially open the nostr doors wider up to bots? They could search for prism & boost notes that would be worth engaging with...
Do we get #zapped to quote this? Or only boost works?
