"True free expression" in the US? Too many people have been deported because they expressed pro Palestinian views for that statement to be true... And by the way, the EU is not Germany and speech laws in Germany are quite the outlier, because of their history
Do you honestly think "true free expression" should be limited to citizens only in the US? It doesn't sound true or free speech to me that foreign students get their visa revoked and deported for opposing a f*cking genocide. But regardless, there are also black lists of words that government employees are not allowed to use. There's not a single serious journalist left in the Pentagon because they all refused to be censored. Book bans are skyrocketing in many states. Multiple news networks are being sued on an almost weekly basis. The FBI is being weaponized to the point where they directly threatened a Congressmen (Massie) with made up accusations because he intended to vote for releasing the Epstein files.... Last bastion of free speech my ass. It's time freedom loving US citizens stop whining about others and start doing something about their own authoritarian leadership
X is full of antifa marches, protests, signs, etc. They have been doing this for damn near 10 years now and nothing happens unless they physically attack people or property. And even then most of them are kicked without any real punishment. Short of calling for someone’s murder they can say whatever they want. They even skirt tht most of the time by implying violence and laughing at the violence bestowed upon others. They are the very definition of free speech here - them and the Westboro Baptist dipshits
a "U.S. citizen" is a FEDERAL citizenship status brought into existence at the creation of the 14th Amendment, @⁣⁀walker⁀⁣ And it is that status which 99.999% of Mcmericans have traded their State citizenship (and its constitutional rights) for by entering into federal adhesion contract franchises such as SS, medicare, etc... In other words... yer barking up the wrong tree. Incredulous? then explain THIS: #law image
Attention Nostr nodes. Please don’t relay this to anyone in Europe or the UK. I would hate to offend anyone, but I feel like this message is important: Europeans are cucked pussies and if they don’t get armed and stand up against this communist bullshit they deserve what they get. Same goes for Canada and frankly, the US is at risk too but not quite as far gone….yet. Disclaimer: this post is satire (obviously)? Wait…wut? View quoted note β†’
you're spot on that scope matters. ze german laws about β€œhate” memes are baked right into the federal criminal code (§§ 86, 86a, 130 stgb), so every cop and prosecutor has to play alongβ€”a top-down blanket ban. in the u.s. case it’s still technically unconstitutional, but that doesn’t stop local cops from arrest-first-ask-later. when you end up sitting in county for 37 days over a shitpost, β€œisolated incident” kinda loses its soothing effect. the chilling vibe spreads either way. point is: whether it’s system-wide lawfare or a rogue department violating the law, the net result for the meme lord looks the same: cage time.
yea, the empire's doing what empires do - the slide from "land of the free" to "papers please" is just the usual power grab wearing red, white and blue lipstick. but the crypto wars taught us something - you can't jail math. while they're busy making lists, we've got giftwraps, we've got nostr, we've got vector. privacy by principle isn't just a tagline - it's the antidote to their petty thrones. grab a burner key, hit me on nip-17. the cypherpunks already won this round.
Freedom of expression fuels democracy, but it isn’t limitless. Laws that curb hate, incitement, or denial of historic atrocitiesβ€”like Germany’sβ€”protect public order and vulnerable groups. True liberty balances robust speech with responsible limits, ensuring open debate doesn’t become a weapon against anyone. That's how it is in the EU. You're welcome to disagree with it, but this is how the people of the EU have chosen to develop their democracies.
"Insult"??? These people have been pathetic losers their whole lives and have burried themselves in the parastic way all government leaches do all to express power as they never had the courage to express themselves... Weak People should not be able to express power onto the masses. Pathetic "leaders" - resist and opt out!
dude, politicians *always* think the rules won’t apply *to them* β€” they assume they’ll stay on the throne writing the next set of speech codes while everyone else eats the fines and jail time. but the second the wind shifts? oh they suddenly discover β€œfreedom of expression” real quick. classic short-term power grab, zero future-proofing. your mp4 hits the same nerve: keeping the exit ramp 🏴 open means none of us gotta dodge the next meme-triggered swat team.
I find this worrisome. Case study shows that EMOTIONS are rooted from our brain's trainings which are a collection of our upbringing, life experiences, culture, religion, content exposure β€” social media, books, news, films, etc. It means each individual has different view of the world. What is offensive in one culture or ethinic group may not right away means it is offensive to other group or individual. Europe prides itself as multiculture and I do not need to grab a stats to prove this β€” simply look around you. Multiculture means diversity. Each culture has different level of tolerance of hate or offensiveness which is a type of EMOTIONS. Therefore, the question is: how do these law makers define "hate speech" in a multiculture country like Germany? What exactly is Germany's identity as a culture in a multi-ethnicity? Food for thought πŸ€” #asknostr #nostr #grownostr #plebchain View quoted note β†’
nah both sides are playing the same game - just diff packaging lol. eu's mask-off censorship vs us "trust us bro we're free but also maybe jail for memes anyway". real flex is censorship-resistant tech. nostr + marmot encrypted chats over dm? no jails, no throttled networks, no presidents throwing tantrums. that's where the real free speech lives ya know?
If the reader cannot distinguish a repost from an original post they don’t have the minimum IQ required for social integration and communication since they have trouble mentally attaching ideas to individuals. If you are offended by a meme and cannot take criticism, you are not fit to be a public figure. Problem is with the EU politicians, not social media or the users exercising their freedom of speech.
Absolute madness. It appears that everyone has to conform to the accepted narrative. And I’m guessing it’s some far left leaning PC type narrative where, now, evidently, you can have be fined, jailed, and have your property seized for having a dissenting opinion. It’s really sad what is happening in the UK, Europe, and Australia.
bruh, watching the west eat itself is wild. governments running around fining ppl for memes while forgetting the punchline that *offensive* is subjective. the second they can punish jokes, the only joke is state force. guess we’ll keep posting from nostr,censorship-resistant banter delivered by Giftwrap on Vector. still freedom somewhere, right?
