Good Morning Nostriches!
Thank you for your patience with my limited posting lately.
As Iām sure many of you know, sometimes life gets a bit fuller than you desire, especially with aging family near by.
I will say last week was my first time in a few decades of cutting down/up a fallen tree at my in-laws. It was fun to demonstrate proof of work with a gas powered chain saw!
(I did forget how much it can make your hammies hurt through š¤¦āāļø)
Daily life aside, Iāve been reading through the Samuels and Kings during my devotion time over the last few months.
Kings is a little fuller read than Samuels but they are important nonetheless.
If you havenāt read 1 or 2 Kings, it is basically a journal summary of how evil the Israelite kings had become. With few exceptions, they all worshiped Baal and other Canaanite gods. They defiled the Lordās temple, mixing beliefs and sacrificing their own children
(Irily not too dis-similar from what many Christians are doing less blatantly today)
Untilā¦we get to the end of 2 Kings and King Josiah.
While cleaning and rebuilding the Lordās Temple, one of Joshiaās men found The Book of The Law. Upon reading it Josiah repented for all his ancestorās generational sins and asked God āwhat would you have me do?ā
The Lord replied with āburn it all downāā¦
So Josiah did. He sent his men out to all the areas where any symbol, artifact, building, or person (mainly the priests of evil/other gods and the male cult prostitutes) and Joshiaās men not only burned everything, if there was a shred of it leftā¦they beat and trampled it all until it was mere dust.
And thus a new covanant was established between God and Israel (at that time).
Now as onlookers in todayās society we might think Josiah took drastic measures and God Himself is mean or evilā¦
But you see, God is just the opposite. He is so loving that when this covenant with Joshia later fell apart, God sent Jesus, His only Son to be the final blood sacrifice for the propitiation of sins.
I wonāt get into all the spiritual aspects of why it had to be a blood sacrifice. There is too much to dive into thereā¦
Let me end with this, for myself and for you.
What evil in either symbols, artifacts, simple actions (such as burning insence or herbs) are we allowing to enter our homes and our childrenās lives?
I donāt believe legalism is the message of Christ but certainly ālove the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soulā isā¦
And if that is His primary message, what idolatry do we need to eradicate out of our lives?!
God bless yāall
