Excited for the traditional Latin mass Easter vigil tonight! It's not easy with a bunch of little children but it is good and worthwhile.
If you're a parent considering whether to make the effort I would encourage you to try, keep your expectations for your children's behavior low and be generous and understanding to them. Let them sleep, take them out on a walk around the church. Whatever! Love 'em! Let them experience this beautiful tradition which has been passed down for them as much as they're able to and do you best to finish on a high note. We have waffles and ice cream and cheese steak omelettes at home afterwards. It's a big break from the normal schedule and lots of fun for them.
Then turn off all alarms and sleep a lot.
