Happy Winter Solstice everyone!
A friendly reminder: as it's usual at this time of the year, what bothers you will last for a while. My advice is to enjoy the things you like about the season.
Change will be noticeable in a month from now, and change will appear to be the new normal around Equinox.

We have a cold spell in Germany, it's more like January than like November. During my ride today, the air was colder than yesterday, down to -3.5 C (26 F), but most of the time it was sunny, and cycling in the sun was nice.
Today, my face and my feet were better protected against the cold than yesterday. Anyhow, I decided that 65 km (40 miles) is enough.
Another thing: today I surpassed 25,000 km since January 1 😄

Today I was more than compensated for commuting at near-frost temperatures.

Waldenburg from the Hohenlohe plain. During my 100 km ride today I had stereotypical fall weather: quite strong wind, in the hills with gusts, rain and some sunshine, temperatures between 6 and 9 degrees C. Much slower than under better weather conditions, but in a few weeks today's weather will be what I'll call good weather.

I own a miniature "netbook computer", the best selling type of computer from 2009 to 2011 (I believe) that's been unused for 8 years. Unlike the last generation of netbooks, with larger screens and normal sized keyboards, my Eee-PC 900A is a real 1st gen netbook: the keyboard is the right size for touch-typing toddlers and the 8GB flash is, like, small. It has a 32bit CPU; Bookworm is the final #Debian release supporting it. It now runs the latest Firefox ESR. Slow, but it works.
