Why do people seem to think that an RPG needs crazy levels of branching dialog, choice-and-consequence, novel-like writing and the like? When CRPGs first came around, they were basically just games where you build a character and go through an adventure of some sort. It wasn't until Fallout and Baldur's Gate that you got the other stuff. I feel that an RPG doesn't REQUIRE all of that to be a good RPG, but it seems like the majority of people think it's a must-have. #rpg #gamedesign #pcgaming

Pro tip for retro gamers switching to Linux... If you use Retro-Bit controllers, you'll likely run into incompatibilities. Luckily, there's a community-made driver package that fixes the issue. I've listed the Github below, which includes installation instructions for most distros. If you're on Arch (or a distro based on it), there's also a relevant package in the AUR that works perfectly ("hid-retrobit-dkms").

Am I the only one who has really weird connections in my mind between a retro game and something completely unrelated (such as music)? For example, I've always drawn connections between Edguy's 2001 album Mandrake, and the Cave of Wonders level in Aladdin on the Sega Genesis. I guess it's the color and the cave background? The Half-Life Legacy mod is officially live on Steam! It works on Linux with some tweaks, and is a pretty solid little mod! It really does feel like the game as I remember it when I was a kid. The 25th anniversary version of the game isn't far off from the original experience, but still, this mod strives to basically be like an improved version of the way the game was at launch. Definitely worth a try!
