It's so funny to me that the Democratic presidential nominee in 2024 was a former prosecutor who made that a part of her pitch, and the latest postmortem from The (centrist) Groups says "voters reject Democratic policies like prison abolitionism."

Hypothesis: The re-mainstreaming of antisemitism is at least partially downstream of elite overproduction. US has a large and growing pool of people born to privilege but downwardly mobile and resentful about it, prone to conspiratorial thinking about why they've been locked out of the elite.
