Started watching Castle in the Sky (Ghibli movie - the first feature-length, I think?) and I was like huh, this countryside looks familiar, wonder where it's set...
So it turns out Hayao Miyazaki visited Wales several times shortly after the 1984-85 miners' strike, and was inspired. Huh!
No spoilers please, I'm barely halfway through, if that, watching it in short sections.
