Moloch and Baal are closely associated in biblical texts, with Moloch often identified as a form or manifestation of Baal, particularly Baal Hadad, the storm god. The Bible frequently links the two, especially in condemnation of child sacrifice. Jeremiah 32:35 explicitly states that the people of Judah built high places for Baal in the Valley of Ben-Hinnom to sacrifice their sons and daughters to Molech, a practice that God declares He never commanded nor even considered, describing it as an abomination that caused Judah to sin. This connection is reinforced in other passages, such as Leviticus 18:21 and 20:2–5, which prohibit giving children to Molech, and in 2 Kings 23:10, which mentions passing children through fire to Moloch.
