Here's your figure Pat McFadden has more or less word for word quoted. Clearly this figure was estimated by the Director Of Technology, which after reading their extensive CV, I can't find any evidence that they have as much as managed to get a Javascript Alert box, to pop up, let alone understand the intricacies of getting an extensive Micro Services workflow to even start to manage all these look ups that need to happen. You haven't even factored into the equation, that North Korea alone has 1 Department devoted to cyber security espionage, that is the entire size of our government IT security capability! image
For those who are interested in learning more about the shambles of a system called "Britcard" here is the paper of the "Think Tank" that proposed it. When you read the words "Think Tank" bear in mind that this is the collective grouping of words that describes a bunch of freshly graduated university students and a bunch of of other lower grade working people, who have never had any job in the private sector, or even tried to start a business on their own. And have all studied essentially not useful in the real world subjects Policy, Politics and classic English literature.
When a politician tells you that something is going to cost you β€œat most Β£400 million” what they actually meant to say , is something highly closer to, Β£4 billion, and we might have something with a really good about page Β£400 million won’t even start to cover This type of government project. There will be all manner of piranha in those waters that old naieve Pat Macfadden will not have experienced.
