Having experimented with over clocking the #nerdaxe and #bitaxe gamma, I finally decided to upgrade my #nerdQaxe++ rev6 from @Solosatoshi.com πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ I added the rear fans earlier and have had the machine running at 750MHz for a while but didnt want to push it more as the ASIC chips have been running right at 60 degrees. So I finally added the Thermaltake Toughhair 110 CPU Cooler I picked up a while ago just for this. Initial results are great, besides being a little front heavy! With a 10 degree drop in ASIC temps and 7 degree drop in VR temps running at the same 750MHz. Im gonna let everything stabilize for a while but I looks like ive got some room to push the ASICs further!
In my last post, I reached the limit of my NerdAxe Gamma from @Solosatoshi.com πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ . I posted a screenshot of the data I collected with the stock setup. I recently finished installing their Dark Horse Heatsink upgrade and have rerun my data collection.
I've been playing around with the settings on my nerdaxe gamma from @Solosatoshi.com πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ and gathering data with just the default hardware. Looks like I hit the limit for the stock hardware at about 625MHz and 1.25V at which point both the ASIC temp and VR jumped significantly. The Charts are raw data collected over multiple hours at each setting and the averaged data over same time periods. Next step is to swap out the heat sink to one of the Dark Horse Heat sinks from @Solosatoshi.com πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ and then repeat the data collection.
Over the past month, I've acquired 2 #nerdQaxe++ Rev 6 from @Solosatoshi.com πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ and a Rev 5 from PlebSource. All 3 have been running great, but there is a noticeable difference in both ASIC temp and VR temp between the Rev 6 and Rev 5 models. ASIC temp of ~51.0 vs ~55.0 VR temp of ~42.0 vs ~ 51.0 At the default settings (ASIC frequency = 600MHz) (ASIC voltage = 1.15 V) Based on this I decided to add some extra cooling to the Rev 5 to bring down the temps a bit with an 80mm Noctua fan and some aluminum heat sinks.
