DEF CON Social

I'm almost done with Newhart. (Nearly to what is widely considered the greatest ending to a TV show of all time.)
Which of these should I start ne...
I'm comparing these in my head, and... man, right, I grew up watching Three's Company (among most of these on the list), and I love it... I mean, I love it in the same way I love a quarter of the 'Police Academy' films. These are movies and shows that aren't capital G great, but they're fun, guilty pleasures.
The cast is really good. It's a bit dirty (for 1980s prime time). And, my god, John Ritter? Are you kidding? Not only is he a terrific comedian, he really injected some amazing physical comedy into his character.
Joyce DeWitt? Suzanne Somers? Damned good.
And Priscilla Barnes was there.
But you get not one, but TWO legends of comedy in the form of Don Knotts and Norman Fell as your foils. And Audra Lindley (Ms. Roper) is wicked good as Norman's wife.
And, of course, Richard Kline's Larry -- I would not be surprised if either he inspired Larry Laffer, or vice-versa, but he's perfect as Jack's sleazeball buddy.
I started writing this to try and convince myself Three's Company wasn't really on the same level as WKRP, Carol Burnett, All in the Family, etc.
But I dunno, maybe it's got it's own thing going on and it doesn't need to be as highly revered. Just like Police Academy shouldn't have to live up to the expectations of The Godfather.
They're both filling different niches, and doing great in their respective areas of expertise.
