@Jornal de Brasília image The China Media Group (CMG) held the event 'Presentation of the Transmission Matrix in Brazil and Screening of 'Shenzhou 13' at the Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana Hotel. The initiative marked a new step in media cooperation between Brazil and China and consolidated the presence of Chinese audiovisual content in the Brazilian market. The meeting was organized by CMG Latin America, the CMG Film, Drama, and Documentary Programming Center, and the China International Television Corporation (CITVC). Among the guests, representatives from the Chinese Consulate-General in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, and Brazilian media groups and partner broadcasters of CMG were present. Transmission Matrix: a permanent window to China. In recent years, CMG has established in the country a 'transmission matrix' - an integrated network of open TV, paid TV, and digital platforms dedicated to showing Chinese content. Major projects include the VOD 'Hi+' China Channel, launched during the 50th anniversary of Brazil-China diplomatic relations, the digital space 'China Zone', and partnerships with platforms such as Bandplay. Through this network, the Brazilian public has had access to Chinese documentaries, series, and animations, covering topics such as culture, gastronomy, and history to science fiction and technology. According to the organizers, the event aimed to deepen mutual knowledge between Brazilian and Chinese societies, offering the local public a plural portrait of contemporary China and creating new opportunities for cooperation between producers and broadcasters from both countries. The highlight was the screening of the documentary '窗外是蓝星' ('Blue Planet Outside the Window' / 'Shenzhou 13'), produced by CMG from real images captured by Chinese astronauts on board the Chinese space station, in 8K resolution. The film records daily life in orbit, scientific experiments, and the emotions of observing the Earth as a 'blue planet' through the window, combining science, technology, and human sensitivity. In Rio, the Portuguese version was presented, allowing the Brazilian public to experience the advanced space program of the Chinese space station in an immersive way. After the session, representatives of CMG and guests participated in a conversation about cooperation in scientific and documentary content, possibilities of co-production, and the expansion of the circulation of audiovisual works between the two countries.
@Jornal de Brasília image US President Donald Trump said on Friday, 19th, that he is strongly attacking ISIS strongholds in Syria in retaliation for the deaths of two US Army soldiers killed in a terrorist attack in the central part of the country last Saturday. 'We are strongly attacking ISIS strongholds in Syria, a blood-soaked place that has many problems, but has a bright future if ISIS can be eradicated', Trump wrote on Truth. According to him, the Syrian government, led by a 'man who is working hard to bring greatness back' to the country, is fully in support. 'All terrorists who are wicked enough to attack Americans are warned that THEY WILL BE HIT HARDER THAN EVER BEFORE IF, IN ANY WAY, THEY ATTACK OR THREATEN THE US', he added in the post.
@Jornal de Brasília image New York remembers the 9/11 attacks on Thursday (11), 24 years after the hijacking of four planes left almost 3,000 dead and changed the United States forever. Memorial ceremonies were held at Ground Zero in Manhattan, where the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were destroyed in coordinated attacks that also caused a commercial airliner to crash into the Pentagon in Washington. Another plane, Flight 93, crashed in a rural area of Pennsylvania when passengers were able to overpower the hijacker and take control of the plane. This year's commemorations take place in a tense political environment following the assassination of influencer Charlie Kirk, who was close to President Donald Trump. Kirk, a 31-year-old extreme right-wing activist, was shot in the neck on Wednesday while attending an event at Utah Valley University. Trump is not expected to attend the ceremonies in Manhattan, but will instead attend a baseball game at Yankee Stadium on Thursday night. Vice President JD Vance, who had planned to participate in the events in New York, decided to pay his condolences to Kirk's family in Utah. 'A terrible day' - New York, the most populous city in the US, is in the midst of a divided mayoral election, in which Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani is facing off against former Governor Andrew Cuomo and current Mayor Eric Adams. New Yorkers will head to the polls on November 4. Adams attended the ceremony on Thursday alongside former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, the Republican who led the city during the tragedy. Trump repeatedly attacked Mamdani, a naturalized American citizen and Muslim, calling him a 'crazy communist', while a Republican legislator called for his deportation. The Democratic socialist is leading the race with a 22-point advantage, according to the latest polls from The New York Times and Siena. 'It was this terrible day that also marked for many New Yorkers the moment when they were seen as 'the other', Mamdani told The New York Times, referring to the increase in Islamophobic attacks after 9/11. The entire city of New York observed a minute of silence at 8:46 am (9:46 am in Brasília), the time when the hijacked Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Then, places of worship throughout the city rang their bells to remember the impact, while family members of the victims read the names of the deceased at Ground Zero. The official death toll from 9/11 was 2,977, including the passengers and crew of the four hijacked planes, the victims of the Twin Towers, the firefighters and Pentagon employees. This number excludes the 19 Al-Qaeda hijackers.
@Jornal de Brasília image North Korean leader Kim Jong Un arrived in Beijing, according to the state-run KCNA on Tuesday. Kim arrived at Beijing's railway station and was received by high-ranking Chinese officials. Kim is expected to participate in a military parade in Beijing on Wednesday with his Chinese and Russian counterparts, an event that, according to experts, may potentially demonstrate a tripartite unity against the United States. Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin are among the 26 world leaders who will join Chinese President Xi Jinping to watch the massive parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and China's fight against Japan's wartime aggressions. It is expected to be Kim's first major multilateral event during his 14 years in power, and the first time that Kim, Xi, and Putin, all key challengers to the US, will meet in the same location. None of the three countries has confirmed a private trilateral meeting of leaders. Kim's visit marks his first trip to China since 2019 and his fifth visit overall since he inherited power after his father's death at the end of 2011.
@Jornal de Brasília image The Finance Minister, Fernando Haddad, criticized the stance of the United States regarding the tariff applied to Brazilian products. He reiterated that the US Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, cancelled a previously scheduled meeting due to a claimed lack of agenda, but later received a meeting with Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP). This statement was made in an interview with the Canal Livre program on the Band, which aired on Sunday, 31, just days after Brazil decided to activate the Economic Reciprocity Law against the US. According to Broadcast (the news system in real-time of the Estado Group), the Brazilian government has already sent the official communication about the probable retaliation to the US government. "I received an email from the US Treasury Secretary, scheduling a virtual meeting time and date. After the cancellation, allegedly due to a lack of agenda, he received Eduardo Bolsonaro", said Haddad. According to him, this type of gesture raises questions about the White House's willingness to dialogue on the commercial crisis. The activation of the reciprocity law was a response to the US process, opened last month, which taxed a significant portion of Brazilian exports. The measure sets a deadline of up to 210 days for effective implementation, creating parity of conditions between the two nations during consultations and information exchanges. Interlocutors involved say that, despite the formal process, the priority of the Lula government remains direct negotiation with the Trump administration. In another excerpt from the Canal Livre interview, Haddad again defended the proposal to exempt from Income Tax those who earn up to R$ 5,000. He emphasized that the proposal is "fiscally neutral" and aims to correct historical inequalities. "To benefit 15 million Brazilians, we will charge 141,000 millionaires who do not pay Income Tax", he said. Asked about the performance of state-owned companies, the minister recognized the Correios' losses as the most delicate case. "The Correios have a structural problem, which is the huge subsidy that remains for them. Because who competes with the Correios does not have the obligation to deliver a letter, it only does what compensates", he explained.
