Please don't forget the ID card petition, it's inching towards 3 million signatures. I know they've said tbey'll do it anyway, but we've been here before under Blair. This will have the effect of kicking it into the long grass where it will be quietly abandoned.

Petition: Do not introduce Digital ID cards

We demand that the UK Government immediately commits to not introducing a digital ID cards. There are reports that this is being looked at.

I had someone tell me that Antifa were terrorists last night, in a European hackerspace. Because demonstrations can be violent. Dunno who needs to hear this, but I grew up through the Troubles. I know what *real* terrorism is. It's not violent protests, by any means, even if they are unpleasant and you don't like them. The inflation of that word to mean anything you don't like has to stop. Just hope and pray that you don't end up in a place that has real terrorism. You really don't want that.

Do we have any #AROS (Amiga style operatimg system) people here on Mastodon? I want to do a Jenny's Daily Drivers on it, but am having huge problems getting a bootable ISO on a flash drive. I don't have a CD-ROM. I can make the disk, but it' s not bootable. Normal linux ways to fix this don't work. I'd like to review it, but this is a blocker.

I think I need to say this. The word "Drama" in the hackerspace community needs to get in the sea. People dismiss the result of toxic behaviour as "Drama", and it allows the toxic behaviour to continue while usually the victim of the toxicity is blamed for the "Drama". How many times do you have to hear "Drama", before realising something is wrong? If I hear that word being used in this way, you will hear me explaining this again in no uncertain terms.

If you are a British trans person, join a trade union. If they come for you in the workplace, you will need a big stick. When it happened to me, I was very glad of my union membership.

Yesterday I was in Berlin, and made a trip to the Magnus Hirschfeld memorial. It's close to the site of the world's first gender identity clinic, raided by the Nazis in 1933. Not on most tourist itineraries.
