At Bitcoin Journey, we make learning simple, engaging, and fun.
#Bitcoin is undoubtedly one of the most exciting topics of our time, and we want everyone to have the chance to understand what this technology is truly about.
That’s why throughout all of 2026, we’ll be hosting free Bitcoin workshops for the local community.
This initiative wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of Criterion Law, one of Queenstown’s top technology and corporate law firms.
Huge thanks to Gypsy Oven and Biga Pizza, two outstanding Bitcoin merchants that catered our latest workshop at the Mountain Club and kept everyone happy and well fed.
Those 2 pizzas tasted like 10,000 BTC. 🍕⚡️
We are very excited for what’s coming in 2026, this is just the beginning.

Peer-to-Peer Bitcoin education.
Helping people understand Bitcoin and why self-custody is the only way to truly benefit from this technology.
Fascinating book “Nexus” by Yuval Harari about information, algorithms, AI, and how they shape the world.
One concept that really stood out to me is the idea of “self-correcting mechanisms.”
The basic idea is simple:
Progress only happens when we can question, challenge, and update our beliefs.
Humans make mistakes, so we need systems that can correct themselves.
That’s why the scientific method exists:
debunking old ideas with evidence, peer-review, and scrutiny.
It’s also what makes a good democracy work: checks and balances, where institutions hold each other accountable.
The opposite?
Rigid, centralized, dogmatic structures where power is concentrated and no one dares to question anything.
Extreme examples: dictatorships, or the doctrine of papal infallibility, which claims the Pope cannot be wrong on certain matters.
Naturally, I thought about #Bitcoin and it hit me:
Bitcoin is the ultimate self-correcting network.
Why?
Because it’s fully open-source and transparent.
Thousands of people are constantly watching, auditing, questioning.
Disagreements on consensus rules, forks, BIPs, scaling discussions, most recently the discussion about Core vs Knots…
These debates are a feature, not a bug.
As long as Bitcoiners keep discussing and debating, Bitcoin will continue to evolve and grow stronger.
Thought pizza couldn’t get any better?
Well, Biga Pizza said: “Hold my slice…” 🍕
You can now enjoy pizza in the heart of the Queenstown CBD and pay with Bitcoin! ⚡️
Please give a warm welcome to Biga Pizza, now a member of @The Bitcoin Basin (Queenstown, NZ)
This is what hyperbitcoinization looks like.
Last week @Bitcoin Journey hosted its first ever Self Custody group workshop where 5 people went from no-coiners to sovereign in just 3 hours.
They didn’t just learn the fundamental importance of holding their own keys, they also learned about:
- Privacy
- Network fees
- Moving between On-Chain and Lightning
- Why accepting and spending Bitcoin is essential for building circular economies
- and much more
This milestone marks a proud step toward making #Bitcoin education simple, accessible, and sustainable.
All workshops will be taught using open-source hardware wallets only.
Hopefully the first of many more to come.
Onwards and upwards.
