There are 3000 migrants passing through Uvita every day for the past 2 weeks. Women, infants, grandmas, whole families. They were already charged $300 to get thru the Darien Gap (look it up if you don’t know). They’ll be charged thousands by the cartels to get thru Mexico. Today, we bought 20 onward bus tickets for 3 families with small children. Any zaps on this post will go towards buying more onward bus tickets.

I think that’s pretty much the least generous way you could frame this. From my perspective, a bunch of people just arrived to the town I live in. They have no money, barely any clothes. They’re sleeping on cardboard boxes along the highway. Our little tourist beach town of 2k people doesn’t have anything to offer these people. So, we offer them food, water, and a bus ticket to the next stop along the way. Their social media is filled with “news” telling them that what they’re doing is completely legal and the US will have jobs, shelter, food, money, healthcare waiting for them. Their friends and family that made this trip already are confirming this to them over WhatsApp- we had a similar wave of this in late October last year, right before the US elections. They don’t want to stay here, and they won’t be allowed to re-enter Panama even if I could convince them to turn around (which would be impossible because their “news” and their family and friends are telling them).
It doesn’t matter that they supposedly claim ppl on WhatsApp or whatever are telling them that, literally everyone knows you can’t just enter foreign countries legally and just stay there. That’s literally common sense, and it’s also why they can’t re-enter Panama. You clearly don’t realise how many ppl are abused, raped, and exploited by just “buying them a bus ticket” to the next stop.

If you're in Costa Rica it's quite possible you're American or another expat but of course there are plenty of Americans in the USA who are all for open borders. That doesn't make it good for the USA or Latin America. Most of central and South America are below replacement rate already so mass migration will precipitate demographic collapse.
