It's interesting that you mention Orban because he's managed to push back against EU policies that he doesn't like: he refuses immigrants and pays fines for these "human rights violations", but it's still more profitable for him because his country still benefits from being in the EU without the economic cost of babysitting the hoards of the turd world. He's also still acting like a gateway for Russian gas into the EU despite the sanctions. This dysfunctional situation is to his advantage. More importantly, expecting a brave national leader is not messianic. It's the bare minimum expectation for a leader. And it's not gonna Hungary or Slovakia that will stand up the technocrats. It has to be someone from an EU powerhouse. It has to come from either France or Germany.
Yes, but you have to admit that we're doing it pathologically now. What principles oblige us to take in people who openly declare their hatred for us, and that they want our demise ? For example, it's one thing to speak out in support of Palestine and it's another to say "France will become a muslim country in the next decade and there's nothing you can do to stop it". Or that they're here to take revenge on France for perceived oppression during the colonial era. This should have no place in polite society.
