Samo Burja refers to a phenomenon called social technology. He contends that these embedded societal narratives facilitate material technologies rather than the other way around. (more on Burja here 👉🏻 ) My takeaway from the discussion with #[2] is that those outside Bitcoin's culture (eg the Bluesky team) lack the social technology to deliver censorship resistant distributed technologies. They don't understand the ethos or the value prop; it's simply not in their DNA. As such, they will always regress to a fiat mindset, as per their default programming. Based on this — I expect Bluesky will fail. Not because they're incapable, but simply because they can't internalized the values necessary to succeed and there is no mechanism from which to provide it to them. Simply put, they lack the core social tools and conviction for the job and will ultimately make poor trade offs under pressures from within, outside or both.
