On August 28, 2014, Hal Finney, the recipient of the first Bitcoin transaction, a cypherpunk, and a developer who made significant contributions to the emergence and development of state-free money, underwent a cryonics procedure with Alcor.
This procedure was performed after he was pronounced legally deceased, in accordance with his long-held wishes to be cryopreserved.
