Open standards for self-driving would also vastly accelerate it's progress compared to the walled gardens we have now.
But maybe that's for the best.
may I suggest a carb and a stickshift? No privacy issues there. I dont want the car to drive. i want an offline bipedal bot that can drive stick in my 78 dodge and knows how to work a choke.
This would be an interesting thought exercise. Imagine @System76 :popos: :ubuntu: producing the hardware. Then, giving the option for POP OS or Ubuntu OS to be installed in the car. Included would be USB touch stick for 2FA before starting the engine.
