if one retreats into some atomistic solipsism, that runs contrary to human nature, detaching you from reality. distorts one’s conception of self, others, and the world. any proclaimed “enlightenment” coming from that is disordered in the same way an annorexic person would say their eating habits have made them healthy. but if you just mean, “hey i’m going to make sure I double down on going to the gym, getting sleep, not doom scrolling etc,” then those are good things but won’t bring about fulfillment in themselves.
The original post splits nuance down the middle. If others, like your family don’t beleive in, it doesn’t matter. Success isn’t contingent upon other’s belief in you. And yet simply saying you don’t need anything but belief in yourself is solipsism. Perhaps “belief” is the trouble word, cause it’s just a passive state. “Just do things” gets at the heart of it. Maybe some beliefs are more helpful than others, and support can be helpful, but at the end of the day ‘it don’t make a fuck.’ Just go crush.
Funny you mention solipsism. @HODL does seem like a solipsist; he's kept me muted, gaslit me, and promoted the gangstalking that I'm targeted with on here, simply because I once tried to tell him he should try thinking in real terms, while he already had me muted for being more honest than he can handle. I have a billionaire friend that I talk about this topic with often. We call it the wizard staff. You plant the wizard staff in the ground and watch reality bend around you. Or I have another mental model called the cardboard mall. Imagine a mall full of cardboard cutout people, who are only as real as you allow them to be. At any point in time you can simply decide to run through the mall at a full sprint knocking down every cardboard person in your way. The cutouts jeer at you. They make mean faces and murmur about you. They’re not pleased to be knocked down, but in the end they’re made of cardboard and there’s nothing they can do to stop you.

Until you realize that you're inherently flawed, and your own reasoning and ideas will always steer you wrong. Pride blinds is and gets in the way of true growth. The fact is we do need someone else. A divine savior. The only way we realize this is His intervention in our lives and the revelation of truth. Aka a miracle #ChristAlone
