If Bitcoiners used even 1% of the time they've spent on the Knots / Core debated to engage with the Samourai case Keonne and Bill would already be free. I, too, am guilty of not using my platform to spread the #pardonsamourai message more. That changes now. Going to do what I can, and hope everyone else does the same. If they come for one of us, they will come for all of us. View quoted note β†’
I'd HIGHLY recommend listening to this interview in it's entirety. Some of the absurd facts of this case: 1. FinCEN in both 2013 and then again in 2019 explicitly stated that you must take custody of bitcoin to be a money transmitting business and that non-custodial software did not count (something Samourai, based on FinCEN and advice of counsel never did to stay within the law) 2. DOJ Blanche Memo in 2025 again reiterates this fact 3. Prosecutors asked FinCEN specifically if Samouri was doing something illegal and they said no. They went ahead and charged them anyways and hid this critical fact unlawfully for over a year until the defense was able to find it 4. When the defense tried to bring these facts to light, they switched out the judge on the case to one known for being extremely pro-prosecutor and giving the harshest sentences. They judge refused to even hear the defense's arguments Having followed many cases within the "justice" system for over 20 years, unfortunately, this isn't an anomaly. This is standard operating procedure. It's enraging every time, but this is nothing out of the ordinary. We need to put pressure on Trump to #pardonsamourai, but the system itself is fundamentally broken. View quoted note β†’
