As I mentioned earlier with the imprecision of detecting the new crescent moon at the beginning of each lunar month the sign of the increased relative dimension of the crescent moon will appear. However, it seems that the orbit of the moon is oval or for some reason tilted so it looks further from earth than how it used to be and it’s dimension appears to increase also as the moon sets towards the west. I was wishing to capture the moon at two different times tonight, however, due to accuracy I would be able to post only one of the pictures I have taken along with another one that was captured at nearly the same night at a later time during the last lunar month for comparison purposes. Tonight is meant to be the second or third night in the lunar month of Safar as reported in many Muslim countries, however, the dimension of the moon is not corresponding to the number of days as shown below. In this hadith, the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, says: “Among the signs of the approach of the Hour,” meaning: Among the signs of the Day of Resurrection that herald its approach and occurrence are: “The swelling of the crescent moon,” meaning: the greatness of its mass and size, “and that the crescent moon will be seen one night,” which is the first night in which it appears, “and it will be said: It is two nights old,” due to its large size. في هذا الحَديثِ يَقولُ النَّبيُّ صلَّى اللهُ عليْه وسلَّمَ: "مِنِ اقْتِرابِ السَّاعةِ"، أي: مِن عَلاماتِ يومِ القِيامةِ التي تُؤْذِنُ بِقُرْبِه ووُقوعِه: "انْتفِاخُ الأَهِلَّةِ"، أي: عَظَمةُ جِرْمِها وحَجْمِها، "وأنْ يُرى الهِلالُ لِلَيْلةٍ" وهي أوَّلُ لَيلَةٍ يَظْهَرُ فيها، "فيُقالُ: هو ابنُ لَيلَتيْنِ"؛ لكِبَرِ حَجْمِه.
