It could be. Cold fusion has some truth in it. Neutron emissions is there. It could absolutely be that due to some fortunate combination of electrochemical generation and some catalists, leaving the process go for a long time there could have been a visible production of gold. Who knows. I bet research over cold fusion is now made behind closed doors. You do not want to give the population any innovation that can be easily done with low tech.
