i settled myself in a satellite of the liberland movement, and i'm nearby the main base. i'm not averse to the concept of sovereignty. i think that especially the croatian border authorities have been wrong in taking this on as an issue and trying to discourage the liberlanders.
well, i'm of the opinion that we won't have a liberland until we can make those stupid croatian (and serbian) "authorities" step the fuck down. secondly, i'm a veteran of multiple danube island terrotories. liberland is the biggest, but there are at least dozens of other groups making their own territory on islands in the danube... liberland is the most famous. independence movements are scattered all across the danube's path. i partly love this part of the world because it seems like the river is the guiding force behind this.
i have been doing a minimal effort to maintain my access to the liberland base, which is right nearby in this town. i need their resources for at least shower and laundry. whoever was involved in building the infrastrucuture to support this, made mistakes. put it this way, i'm now defending the place against the cold, plumbing was installed, but it was installed in such a way that the current cold winter is plugging up the pipes with ice. there is problems.
well, it's not that hard to fix these problems.
but what has convinced me i'm going to move there and occupy and keep the place in order, is that freeze. my main local contact tells me that this kind of freeze hasn't happened in over a decade in this region. and they have a nice starlink internet connection which will be way better than my piddling 5g mobile connection.
what i get out of this deal is first, i met the cat they all talk about. he is a beautiful, pure black cat. i would not mind to have this little guy as a pet.
second, i get internet with much better bandwidth than i get on 5g
third, the location is literally a minute walk from the only supermarket for a few dozen miles.
i only need some help with moving my stuff there. not a lot of stuff, but i'm going to do it.
i don't necessarily believe the dream of the liberlanders. but they set up things and i'm here, and i got here because i was determined to be a potential helper. yes i am very much in support of any effort to liberate people from oppression.
i would vociferously support the movement, except it doesn't seem to me like they have any realpolitik in their mushy brains. but i'm here, in the real world, and i can have some impact. plus i can help save this beautiful old building (a pig farm, no less) from decay.
seriously in a muddle in my mind right now how to do this, but it's all crystalizing.
need to think through the plan but as much as i like this house i am in now, i think liberland needs my work, and liberland will enable my work.
ahaha so much work. but i think it's just gonna be one whatsapp message and i need to anyway get some other things sorted out. but since liberland needs me, and it suits me, i'm going to go defend liberland.
put it this way, i already had a little notice up on my bedroom door circa 2012 that i was my own independent nation. well, i think i can put up for those who are trying to make this happen. i see their legacy every other week when i go there because i have no water in my house currently, and the main base has one.
i'm a fully sovereign individual. i won't even involve my family, past or future, in this. i'm taking you on, directly.
what people don't understand about this is that i'm here, about 300km from where i would be, in slovakia, to set up. but i always understand that whatever is in front of me is part of a bigger picture.
i sorta think that inviting me to stay at a satellite of that, is asking me to apply my tactical/strategic mind to this.
my first advice is make friends with the neighbours. we should be popular with the neighbours. how this got to be the opposite way around is quite funny. no, it's very yugoslavian to assert sovereignty. just fucking do some fucking research you asshole.
the liberland thing is all about a literal island on the danube that didn't get claimed by serbia or croatia.
the croatian border police are very aggressive about it. the serbs, they don't give a shit. but i think that is probably because there is gossip in the region against these "sovereign" liberlanders.
i'm gonna start thinking about how to change the local public opinion. i'm not the same as the usual liberlander, excited about the transgression of, mostly, croatian border laws.
no, i'm independent of that. and i also see that this little town has issues that probably relate to the EU. a little wine district. with lots of "podrumi" where visitors in all but winter will show up and drink wine in these buildings attached to the nearby elevated hillside, loamy hill regions that i am in.
in particular, i can see it is obvious that batina and osijek have both declined to care about this little village.it's sad, especially as i see walking through it the hungarians were very busy here. i mean, idk how to express how delightful the hungarian vibe is. i thought it was romanian, but it's from hungary. what i see in my village is similar to what i passed through all through southern romania. little villages, all laid out in a particular way. yes, this village is like that.
i don't care, so much, about the global bullshit politics, but i hope if i am going to stop here a while, that i can help make things better.
