i am going to do one last thing, use mike's relay tester, and maybe that will bring the final fixes. it's probably just some dumb mistake about where and when it makes certain responses. i know it did at one time fully work for auth, and that coracle and nostrudel both were able to fetch the relay feed

what i'm going to do is fix the main branch, if the relay tester can catch all the bugs in it, and then maybe at last the work is done, and i'll deploy it and see how it behaves on the usual clients. fingers crossed but i'm prioritising some paid gig work to get everything nicely tested and bugfixed this morning, but as soon as i'm done i'll debug this shit and get the shit working and voila.
then i'm just gonna forget about nostr relays and build my new protocol thing
