The normalisation of cosmetic 'procedures' (short of surgery, but also including surgery) is part of the patriarchy's fight-back against the advances of feminism & women's rights.... the focus on the appearance of women rather than their intellect, beliefs or behaviours.
This issue lies behind & is implied in Eva Wiseman's column for the Observer this week on such procedures.
My real sadness is when the pressure is then turned on women by women...
