i hate having to think about things that aren't profound
for example moving from NJ to Florida - i don't mean finding a home - that part is done - i mean physically moving - requires a lot of thinking. i need to think how to pack everything and so on - and it is just aggravating to have to think about it because it's not any kind of deep stuff and yet i can't really delegate it.
i can delegate the physical labor but not the planning of the move

You absolutely can delegate the entire thing, it's probably just not within your budget. My moving company offered special services like moving entire houses from Germany to Austria within a week. People just live in a hotel and move into their new place. Gotta be fine with the plebs seeing your personal stuff though but if you're this rich, why care.
To me delegating the logistics wouldn't feel right regardless.
jokes aside my problem is lack of focus and discipline, and just under-estimating the amount of required work, starting too late and moving too slowly.
this is in all things, not just this move.
by the way, 7 years ago when i moved from NYC to New Jersey NOT A SINGLE ITEM WAS DAMAGED during the move. NOT ONE. and this is despite my Sadist Father trying to break everything and on a few occasion hiring moving help in the form of 70 IQ Niggers.
i don't expect to be able to repeat this feat because that was 50 mile move, and now it's a 1,000 mile move, but the curse of being better than everybody is that it makes it hard to delegate.
I have a similar problem, just probably less intense than in your case, but it gets triggered by distraction in particular.
SWEs I know are getting laid off, so I can't afford to rest on my laurels anymore though. When deadlines approach, I have to meet them.
That's why I'm taking an extended break from X. It's just too distracting with the oceanic tide of content there. I will still check Nostr here and there.
That's always my issue with moving as well. Too many moving parts, every mistake directly affects you, you need to thin down your stuff, get rid of some attachments, sort between low to frequent use, then sort again based on must haves. Youβll most likely still miss something or screw a dependency up so just hope it wonβt be something that cascades down heavily.
Iβll sleep much better after my last formal visit to my old place is done this weekend. Even after the physical move thereβs so many tasks pending.
These moving helpers are often experts at what they do though. Quite impressive routine to witness. Regardless, 1000 miles to fuck with your peace of mind until itβs all done. All the best, man.
if you don't want to get laid off focus on controlling the urge to make snide remarks
pretend you are a good natured simple person who believes in everything they taught you in grade school about the importance of hard work and being a team player
pretend you think you're fortunate to have a boss who is smarter than you that you can look up to
of course don't say any of this directly or the manipulation will be obvious - just as act as if this is how you feel
my guess is whether somebody keeps their job is 20% job performance and 80% office politics
to clarify, i didn't mean to suggest that job performance is not important or that you can slack off.
i only meant that you should not neglect the other part.
