Iran would be crippling their ally China by closing off Hormuz. That is the last thing Iranians would want right now.

Not closing it to Chinese vessels. Only US, Germany etc
Plus, they have the China Iran railway even if they close it completely.

China gets the majority of its crude oil from Russia. Through a pipeline. They share a border. It also gets it from Malaysia, Iraq and Iran, all of which do not need to travel that route. They also get some from the USA. China diversifies its suppliers on purpose.
