Pitch it, Win it, Build it at Bitcoin Week, Bali

Dear bitcoiners and nostriches,

If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re building something on Bitcoin or Nostr. Maybe it’s just an idea. Maybe it’s messy. Maybe it’s still in pieces.

We know that feeling. It’s exactly what we felt when we started working on a funding experiment that would later become Angor.

It began with the same kind of questions you’re probably asking yourself:

  • How do we build for the long term?
  • How do we fund ideas without selling out too soon?
  • How do we give people real, sustainable ways to invest?

These very questions led us to build an open source crowd funding protocol designed for founders and collectives who want to raise funds in a way that aligns with the values of decentralization (Bitcoin), transparency (Nostr), and community (Plebs). We’ve just started, and already five projects have successfully raised funds through Angor. A couple of them were Nostr clients, and one was a documentary.

Building on that momentum, we’re now looking for builders who are ready to move their ideas forward. If you’re working on something that matters, we’d love to have your project listed on Angor Hub, and help you take it from almost to unstoppable.

And if you are still unsure about your idea, that’s completely okay. We’ve created something just for you, the Angor Pitch Contest.

As part of the Bitcoin Week Bali (nostr:npub1fpqlfgejlvnv5swanf0398y6k9vvheqs9g4zmjlthrga7ytn53dq3pqwcz) , happening this September 1-7, 2025, we’re hosting a pitch contest for those early-stage builders who want to share their ideas, gain feedback, and connect with others passionate about building on Bitcoin and Nostr.

What kind of ideas are we looking for? It could be a lightning-powered tipping platform, a local remittance tool, a Nostr-based publishing app, or something totally weird and original. If it helps people use Bitcoin in real life, or gives them more control over their identity, money, or voice then you’re on the right track.

Every valid application will be properly considered. From those, we’ll select 20 finalists to pitch live on September 6th. You can join us in person, or pitch remotely if that works better for you. All we ask is that your project has a clear proof of concept, and that Bitcoin or Nostr plays a meaningful role in how your product creates value.

And please don’t worry if your pitch isn’t perfect. We’re not looking for startup theatre. Whether you’ve pitched before or this is your first time, you’re welcome here.

We’ve also lined up a panel of mystery judges, who will reveal themselves at the conference. They’re not saying much yet, except this: Show us what you’ve got.

And yes they bring prizes:

•🥇 $2,000 in Bitcoin for the 1st place winner

•🥈 $1,000 in Bitcoin for the 2nd place winner

To apply, just fill out the form, upload your pitch deck and 1-pager, and tell us what you’re building and why. Submit your application: https://opnform.com/forms/my-form-ujvwva

Please remember that the application deadline is August 17, 2025. The judges were very specific about this particular rule. So let’s try to stick to it. Shall we?

One more thing, if you’re one of the 20 finalists but can’t make it to Bali, that’s totally fine. You can still pitch remotely. But if you can make it to Bali, then the week in Bali will be packed with Bitcoiners flying in from around the world. We will hear new ideas, meet builders, dreamers, skeptics, and contributors all in one place. A confluence of the best minds in the world.

Whatever you’re building, it deserves to be seen. And there’s no better time to share it than now. Well, that’s all from our side. And now, I’m off daydreaming… maybe I’ll try surfing, definitely get a foot massage, cruise around on a scooter, and crack open a couple of cold Bintang beers under the sun.

We’ll see you (and your idea) in Bali.

Ciao

P.s - Some Bahasa for your trip to Bali.
