"Bluesky and Mastodon are dead" Meanwhile, Kat Abughazaleh: "Bluesky outperforms YouTube, Threads, and our social media ads by about 2:1 per site." @npub1lrqq...pn8w similarly has said @npub1qmg7...s6k5 fundraisers do best on Mastodon. Dead for whom? Perhaps folks with dying audiences elsewhere.
Wow, can't believe I missed that @npub1lzdq...urpr now supports long-form articles, RSS/Atom support, *and* has an "Articles" feed builder preset. This is...starting to feel like an endgame platform for me. Full update here:
"So let’s connect, let’s build bridges. But also, let’s finally help the X-shaped zombie die" Love this piece by @npub10jfr...4g7l that gives great advice on how to use the open social web to its fullest:
In the last five years, we've gone from "employees will never have to go into an office" to "employees need to be in the office because creative and innovative work can only be done face-to-face between humans" to "lol we don't need humans"
Many folks have asked us about auto-bridging Bluesky like @npub1hw0z...jzvh has, and it's a good question! There's two reasons for not flipping that switch: 1. Costs! Bsky has a huge userbase, and Bridgy Fed / @npub13rs5...s8u8 is currently mostly self-funded with some community support (ty!). Onboarding a large swath of users isn't something we can afford at the moment. If you'd like to support us, we have a Patreon https://www.patreon.com/anewsocial and merch (1/3 🧵) RE:
Hey all 👋🏼, Anuj here from @npub13rs5...s8u8, the organization that manages Bridgy Fed. We recently added a new feature to Bridgy Fed that folks have asked us for [1] - an easy way for admins to automatically bridge their new users and give them custom domain handles on Bluesky. We wanted to take a moment to explain the philosophy behind it, and how we’re trying to do this the right way, keeping consent front-of-mind. 1/10 🧵
