Couple of things regarding paying creators for access in the #Fediverse: 1. The PeerTube extension allowing Stripe payments: 2. FEP for limiting visibility to authenticated actors: 📃.md 3. FEP for Payment Links: 📃.md Theoretically, you could use 2 and 3 together as part of a service. #FediverseHouse
Paul Frazee from Bluesky on lessons learned from building for Secure Scuttlebutt and Beaker Browser prior to ATProto: > "Beaker and SSB had interesting aspects... but putting a comment system on a website shouldn't have to be rocket science. These were peer-to-peer systems without servers, but incorporating server infrastructure allows better reliability and scale than what either could provide." #FediverseHouse
"ActivityPub 1.1 is coming." is this network's "Half Life 3 CONFIRMED." #FediverseHouse image
Yooo, it's @npub16d5j...u6mu! #FediverseHouse image
Some of the biggest things coming out of this session: 1. People don't want to have to think hard about the experience to find where the decentralization is. My personal experience is that a lot of people are initially indifferent. 2. Open source projects, Fediverse ones in particular, really suck at marketing. I don't even mean "make shiny pages showing cool screenshots" or "use easy words to understand", but instead: workshop some values that resonate with people. 3. Similarly, there's so many core concepts that have to be explained up front before you ever get to the experience itself. These are details that we need to nail down, without info-dumping all at once. #FediverseHouse
"Flood the timeline with this image to signify you stand with a country or group!" What is this, 2010? I thought we mostly agreed that performative signaling was best left on corporate silos.
Is anyone building cool stuff with @npub1tlfg...wz08 ? I've been curious about diving in after I learn JavaScript, I think it would be fun to make some simple #Fediverse apps. I'd love to see what other people are making with it.
